Venue Rental

1-day venue wedding reception rental includes access to the venue from 9:00am-11:30pm. An event length of up to 8 hours is included in the base pricing. Additional event time is available at $500/hour. Event time is calculated from guest arrival to the end of entertainment/bar service.

In-House Bar Service

A full bar is available, including a wide variety of beer, wine and liquor as well as extensive non-alcohol options. The Old Lantern Events Barn holds a Vermont State Liquor License and all required insurance.

Our standard bar service charge is $250 per 100 guests. This is discounted 50% for open bars charged by consumption, and the service charge is eliminated for package-based open bars. Please see our bar services page for more detailed information about bar pricing & offerings!

Envision Your Wedding Day from Start to Finish

Preparing the Space

Our events team will have tables and chairs set according to your floorplan, with linens on the tables. You’ll have access to the barn by 9am to begin setting up decor and personal details. We will handle the setup of ceremony chairs as well!

Getting Ready

If renting the inn, the bridal party will often take advantage of the natural light streaming in through the large windows in the common area. Of course, you are welcome to use the Green Room/Bridal Suite in the event barn as well. 

Ceremony

Most couples choose to use the on-site landscaped arbor as their ceremony site, adding florals or decor elements to tie in their specific themes and colors. The processional starts from the Lounge, keeping the wedding party hidden from view until it’s time to go!

In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony is held in front of the double doors on the east wall of the main hall. Guest tables are pulled aside, and the brown chaivari chairs are used for guest seating along a warm & welcoming aisle down the center of the barn.

Cocktail Hour

Following the ceremony, the wedding party recessional leads family & friends into the bar and lounge. Stationary and passed appetizers are served by the catering team, while the bar is opened up to start the party. In good weather, guests are welcome to spend time outdoors mingling around cocktail tables, playing lawn games, and taking in the views.

Reception

The grand reveal of the reception hall starts by opening the large barn doors next to the bar and inviting guests to find their seat. The bridal party hangs back in the lounge, creating a natural flow into introductions and often the First Dance before dinner. Bread and salads are served to each table, followed by guests being invited to the buffet set up in the bar. From this point forward, the night is yours to dance, party and celebrate! Our 11pm music curfew is one of the latest of Vermont venues, and we encourage you to keep the party going!

Conclusion of the Evening

Our events staff will handle cleanup of tables, chairs, place settings and linens. We ask that you remove all personal items and decor by the time designated in your specific venue rental. If you would like our staff to take on a bigger role in setup or breakdown, just ask! We’re always happy to work something out.
